Vitamin D test

Helps with suspected vitamin D deficiency

Laboratory chemical analysis of the capillary blood of 25 (OH) vitamin D3 in the blood to determine the vitamin D status.

You could also easily get a vitamin D test from your own GP. Unfortunately, it's a common experience that you don't get one from them...
Many doctors are so attached to conventional medicine and the general opinion that there are no vitamin deficiencies in Germany that they simply refuse to carry out such a test.
If you want to avoid annoying begging at the doctor's for a test (a standard experience for patients interested in health...), you can get a good test for little money at Medivere! You can ask your naturopath for the necessary blood sample.

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble "vitamin" which is synthesised endogenously from cholesterol. Due to its origin, its synthesis and its functions, it is related to steroid hormones. Part of the requirement is covered by photochemical synthesis of vitamin D in the skin. Human migration from Central Africa to the north has led to a lightening of the skin and thus to a more "effective" utilisation of UV rays. Nevertheless, the intensity of sunlight in winter in Europe is not sufficient to cover the demand! The formation is also strongly dependent on the time spent outside, the time of day, the altitude and latitude, the season, the air pollution, the type of clothing, the pigmentation of the skin, the age, the cloud cover and the sun protection applied (with permanent use of SPF 15, vitamin D production is reduced by 99.5%).

In the EsKiMo study conducted by the Robert Koch Institute and the University of Paderborn, the nutrient intake of children was analysed. In the group of 6-11 year olds, 100% of the test subjects were below the daily nutrient intake recommended by the German Nutrition Society. Studies on adults also show an undersupply of vitamin D - especially in the winter months.

The test kit includes:

  • 1 instruction for sample collection
  • 2 lancets
  • 1 sample tube
  • 2 alcohol swabs
  • 1 fingertip plaster
  • 1 sample label
  • 1 envelope
