Helps with suspected vitamin D deficiency
Vitamin D3 is one of the most popular food supplements in winter. However, before considering supplementing with vitamin D3, it is advisable to determine the actual status of the vitamin in the body.
The vitamin D blood test from podo medi enables a laboratory chemical analysis of the capillary blood of 25 (OH) vitamin D3 in the blood to determine the vitamin D status.
You could easily get a vitamin D test from your own GP.
Unfortunately, it's a common experience that you don't get one from them... Many doctors are so attached to conventional medicine and the general opinion that there are no vitamin deficiencies in Germany that they simply refuse to carry out such a test.
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble "vitamin" that is synthesised endogenously from cholesterol. Due to its origin, its synthesis and its functions, it is related to steroid hormones. Part of the requirement is covered by photochemical synthesis of vitamin D in the skin. Human migration from Central Africa to the north has led to a lightening of the skin and thus to a more "effective" utilisation of UV rays. Nevertheless, the intensity of the sun in winter in Europe is not sufficient to cover the demand! The formation is also strongly dependent on the time spent outside, the time of day, the altitude and latitude, the season, the air pollution, the type of clothing, the pigmentation of the skin, the age, the cloud cover and the sun protection applied (with permanent use of SPF 15, vitamin D production is reduced by 99.5%).
In the EsKiMo study conducted by the Robert Koch Institute and the University of Paderborn, the nutrient intake of children was analysed. In the group of 6-11 year olds, 100% of the test subjects were below the daily nutrient intake recommended by the German Nutrition Society. Studies on adults also show an undersupply of vitamin D - especially in the winter months.
It's that simple
After your order, we will send you the test pack with detailed instructions. All you need for your sample is a drop of blood on a carrier material. You send this in a prepared envelope to our partner laboratory Preventis and receive a result with an assessment of your profile after 5-7 days.
