Salvestrol® Platinum is a plant extract that contains high concentrations of specific phytonutrients (phytoalexins) that occur naturally in unsprayed fruit and vegetables in relevant quantities. Plant defence substances that protect the plant against fungi, viruses, bacteria, UV light and insects are known as phytoalexins. The plant only produces them in large quantities when needed.

With 2000 points per capsule, Salvestrol® Platinum is a very high-dose variant. To put this into perspective, one capsule of Salvestrol® Shield contains 350 salvestrol points, which corresponds to a maintenance dose.

Salvestrols are rarely found in today's diet

The discoverers of salvestrols have made an interesting observation: the salvestrol content varies considerably between fresh fruit and vegetables as well as herbs and processed foods. Plant protection products such as fungicides have greatly reduced the salvestrol content in conventional fruit and vegetables. This is obvious, as the plant no longer needs to protect itself by producing phytoalexins, and over the last 50 to 60 years the cultivation of plant species that naturally contain high levels of bitter salvestrols (and therefore require less pesticides) has declined significantly. This is due to the selection and breeding of plants. People also tend to go for new varieties of fruit and vegetables that are uniform in size, colour and shape, while ignoring older and less appealing varieties that are rich in salvestrols. Finally, salvestrols are removed from (refined) foods such as fruit juices and olive oil to preserve flavour, colour and brilliance. The flavour becomes sweeter without added sugar and salvestrols are usually only present in small amounts or not at all in refined foods. The British research group that discovered salvestrols came to the conclusion that today's diet contains 80 to 90 % fewer salvestrols than 50 to 100 years ago. Salvestrols are now only found in relevant quantities in unsprayed and unprocessed foods.

Why salvestrols are quantified in points

The salvestrol point system is used to quantify the amount of salvestrols in foods and food supplements. The potencies of different salvestrols vary and are not directly linked to the quantity in milligrams. The point system scale was created based on a calculation of the amount of salvestrol found in a common diet more than 100 years ago. This quantity corresponds to 100 points.

Ingredients

Phytonutrient complex consisting of citrus bioflavonoids, kabocha pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima) and grape (Vitis vinifera), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (vegetable capsule), rice flour (Oryza sativa).

Recommended dosage

Take 1 capsule twice a day with water with a meal.
