Black cumin oil is an oil with a herbaceous, peppery flavour that is extracted from the velvety black seeds of the black cumin plant (Nigella sativa). Black cumin has been cultivated in West Asia (Turkey, Iraq) for thousands of years and is valued as a spice and medicinal plant. From the Bosporus, it soon began its triumphal march to North Africa, Southern Europe, India and Pakistan and established itself not only in the cuisines there, but also in traditional herbal medicine.
