Ovega3® Vitamins, algae oil DHA & EPA 250mg + B12, D3, K2, 60 VegeCaps

Plant-based omega-3 DHA+EPA with the active forms of vitamins B12, D3V and K2

This supplement has been formulated from the best possible ingredients. Designed to be taken up to 12 capsules daily.

Ovega3® Vitamins contains the active omega-3 components DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). These omega-3 active ingredients are important for our body and differ from other omega-3 fatty acids such as ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). ALA alpha-linolenic acid is not an active ingredient; our body must first transform it into the active omega-3 ingredients DHA or EPA through a complex conversion process. During the conversion of ALA, alpha-linolenic acid, into the active ingredients DHA or EPA, 90 % is lost. This means that of 2000 mg omega-3 ALA alpha-linolenic acid, only 10 % or 200 mg active omega-3 substance DHA or EPA remain after the conversion.

Ovega3® Vitamins was developed to support the need for active omega-3 fatty acids.
The capsules are made of gelatine, are soft and easy to swallow.
Ovega3® Vitamins are made from ingredients of the highest quality and bioavailability.

The TOTOX value

(TOTal OXidation value) can be regarded as an indicator of "freshness". It should not exceed 26, because the lower it is, the fresher the oil is. The TOTOX value therefore provides information on the extent to which the raw material used is oxidised. This is an important indicator of the quality of an oil, as products with a high omega-3 content are extremely sensitive to oxidation.

The algae oil has a TOTOX value of 3.5, which demonstrates a very high level of freshness. With its Soft VegeCaps, Ovega3® from EnergyBalance® offers fresh, high-quality DHA and EPA. The food supplement is therefore particularly well tolerated and does not cause any unpleasant burping after ingestion.

Each Ovega3® vitamin capsule contains

250 mg of excellent plant-based and active omega-3 fatty acids:
202 mg DHA and 48 mg EPA in oil from the microalgae Schizochytrium sp.
DPA (docosapentaenoic acid) = 6.25 mg;
Vitamin B12 = 0.75 μg;
Vitamin D3 = 1.67 µg;
Vitamin K2 (in the form of MK-7) = 8.33 μg.

Omega-3 has an effect on the regulation of blood lipids

As omega-3 fatty acids are vital for the body but cannot be produced by the body itself, it must be supplied with them through food. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for the structure and functioning of cell membranes, as they are integrated into them. Omega-3 fatty acids have a positive effect on the regulation of blood lipids.

For pregnant women

Omega-3 fatty acids have an effect on brain and visual development in infants. The eicosanoids derived from omega-3 have an influence on many metabolic processes and functions.

For eyes and brain

DHA, the active omega-3 fatty acid, makes up 60 % of the total fatty acids in the retina of the eye and 40 % of the polyunsaturated brain lipids. The negative effects of arachidonic acid, which is an omega-6 fatty acid and is ingested in excessive quantities when eating animal foods, are reduced by omega-3.

A common deficiency of omega-3 fatty acids

The intake of omega-3 fatty acids is influenced by omega-6 fatty acids. An excessive amount of omega-6 fatty acids in the diet inhibits the absorption of omega-3 fatty acids. According to the German Nutrition Report 2000 and the Austrian Nutrition Report 2003, the population consumes too much omega-6 in its daily diet. According to the nutritional reports, the current ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 is 8:1. According to scientific findings, the ratio should be 5:1. Therefore, the intake of omega-6, such as linoleic acid, gamma-linolenic acid and arachidonic acid, should be reduced and the intake of omega-3 increased.

TG oil - the organic variant Triglycerides (TG), also known as triacylglycerols, are the natural form of fat. All fats produced or stored as energy reserves by living plant or animal organisms are in the form of TG. TG consists of 3 fatty acids and 1 glycerol, which are linked together. In addition to TG, omega-3 capsules are also available in the form of ethyl ester EE in various countries. EE is an "artificial form" that does not occur in nature and is less expensive than TG. In Switzerland, Germany and France, only natural TG oils are permitted for omega-3. In the USA, for example, artificial omega-3 effects are also authorised for omega-3. The DHA algae oil in Ovega3® is in the natural TG form.

B12 - not only important for vegans

Vitamin B12 has many functions: It is significantly involved in various metabolic processes. B12 - a term for various compounds known as "cobalamins", whose basic chemical structure is identical. They take on many tasks in metabolism, especially in connection with the nervous system, haematopoiesis and detoxification as well as the breakdown of fatty acids. B12 is also crucial in the conversion of stored folic acid into an active form that is better recognised and utilised by the body.

Methylcobalamin is the most widespread form of vitamin B12 in the blood and in the central nervous system (brain). It is mainly found in the cell plasma. Methylcobalamin contributes to the conversion of homocysteine, a harmful metabolite of our metabolism, into methionine. Methylcobalamin serves as a precursor for S-adenosylmethionine (SAM). SAM plays a role in the formation of important neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine and acetylcholine. This explains why vitamin B12 contributes to the maintenance of normal mental function.

Mandatory for vegetarians and vegans

Vegans often have a vitamin B12 deficiency. It is therefore essential for vegans, and in some cases also for vegetarians who avoid milk and eggs, to ensure they have a sufficient intake of vitamin B12.

Vitamin D - the sunshine vitamin

Vitamin D and sunshine. Vitamin D is called the sunshine vitamin for a reason - the human body can produce it itself with the help of sunlight. This makes it the only vitamin that does not have to be obtained from food.
Vitamin D is necessary for sufficient bone density. It helps to build and maintain strong bones. The body needs it to develop strong teeth and ensure normal muscle function. Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus and for the incorporation of calcium into the bones. Vitamin D is also necessary for cell division and plays an important role in immune defence.

The ideal combination for bone formation: vitamins K2 and D

Imagine if there was a vitamin that caused calcium to be stored in the bones and not deposited in the arteries. This would make it possible to prevent both arteriosclerosis and osteoporosis. Recent studies have shown that vitamin K2 has exactly this ability. Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.
Various studies have shown that the absorption of calcium is significantly improved when it is taken together with vitamins D3 and K2. Without these vitamins, the body does not appear to be able to properly utilise the calcium supplied.

Capsule shell made from plant-based material, without gelatine

Many people experience difficulties after swallowing gelatine capsules. Capsules are often made from gelatine. Gelatine is a bile-like substance without colour or odour, which is produced when connective tissue (skins, bones, tendons) is cooked by dissolving the protein-mixed glutin. The BSE problem has led many consumers to be sceptical about products made from animal bones such as gelatine. For this reason, EnergyBalance™ has selected a capsule made from plant-based materials for Ovega3®. The capsule shell of Ovega3® consists of modified maize starch, is free from gelatine and is of purely vegetable origin.

Nutritive properties

  • DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and to the maintenance of normal vision (these positive effects occur with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA)
  • EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart function (these positive effects occur with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA + EPA)
  • Replacing saturated fatty acids with monounsaturated and/or polyunsaturated fatty acids in the diet contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels
