Iodine is essential for our survival because it is needed for the formation of hormones in the thyroid gland. They regulate many metabolic processes in our body. Knotted kelp is particularly suitable for providing us with sufficient iodine.

Knotted seaweed (Ascophyllum nodosum) belongs to the marine algae family and is one of the most mineral-rich foods in the world. It grows from the seabed to the surface to capture sunlight with its large brown leaves. The brown algae is an excellent natural source of iodine and also contains many minerals, vitamins and trace elements. As the naturally composed nutrients support each other in their absorption and effect, the bioavailability of iodine from brown algae is better than with pure iodine tablets.
Our preparation comes from the renowned British company Seagreens® and contains a qualitatively convincing and highly concentrated kelp extract (300 µg iodine). This means that the daily iodine requirement can be met very effectively and completely naturally.

WOSCHA Natural Iodine is very well tolerated because it contains no additives (not even the binding agent magnesium stearate). The tablets are held together exclusively by natural substances such as microcrystalline cellulose. The tablets are suitable for allergy sufferers and vegans.

Iodine is particularly important for the formation of the hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) in the thyroid gland. Together with thyrotropin from the pituitary gland, they form the so-called pituitary-thyroid control circuit, which regulates the concentration of hormones in the blood plasma.
Thyroid hormones control the basal metabolic rate and regulate the cardiovascular system, blood pressure, cellular oxygen consumption, body temperature and digestion.

Iodine has an influence on our cognitive functions (logical thinking, memory, concentration) and contributes to the normal growth of children.

Naturally compensate for iodine deficiency

A daily dose of 200 micrograms is recommended for adults, 230 µg for pregnant women and 260 µg for breastfeeding mothers. Smokers also have an increased requirement.
Germany is still an iodine-deficient country. The southern federal states are particularly affected, where goitre formation (enlarged thyroid gland) is a well-known sign of hypothyroidism. For this reason, retailers offer a number of products with added iodine (e.g. iodised salt). If this type of iodine supply is not sufficient, for example in the case of an increased requirement (smokers!) or a diet low in iodine (vegans!), a dietary supplement with iodine can provide compensation. Preferably in a natural nutrient combination such as in knotweed rather than as a single substance.
