Psyllium has very special properties among dietary fibres. It swells very strongly and then acquires a somewhat slimy, slippery consistency in the intestine. As a result, it can help with the two most important, actually opposing digestive problems in equal measure:

• In the case of constipation, it is a first-class aid in getting everything that is stuck "flowing" again.
• In the case of diarrhoea or an excessively thin consistency, it effectively leads to thickening.

Like apple pectin, psyllium also has the property of binding harmful substances in the intestine and, as fibre is generally not absorbed, excreting them with the stool.

When is there a risk of fibre deficiency?

The reasons for a lack of fibre intake are unfavourable eating habits, such as the high consumption of industrially processed foods, for example white flour products. Added to this is the excessive consumption of animal products, combined with too little plant-based fruit and vegetables.

Acacia fibres, psyllium husks (organic), resistant starch from rice, apple pectin, konjac root (contains 90 % glucomannan).

Recommended intake

As a dietary supplement, stir 5 g (2 heaped measuring spoons of 3 ml) into 200 ml of water or fruit juice daily. Consume immediately.

Notes from EnergyVital

Psyllium swells relatively quickly, so prepare and consume quickly, rinsing well in a glass of water if necessary. Never try to take it dry or with minimal liquid, psyllium swells so quickly and strongly that there may even be a risk of choking. Of course, only in extreme cases, if you try to choke down the powder dry or with minimal liquid, there is no danger if used as recommended.
After taking antibiotics, the intestinal flora is usually impaired or has disappeared completely, as these often also kill the intestinal bacteria. After discontinuing them, it therefore makes sense to ensure that the new bacteria that colonise again are really "good" intestinal bacteria and not the wrong ones. It therefore makes sense to eat more fermented vegetables or acidified dairy products and not so much meat.
This process can also be optimally supported with the intake of dietary fibres such as Multi-Ballast Complex and the corresponding "good" bacteria as contained in Natur Vital Colovit.
