L-proline - the amino acid for more cohesion
L-proline is one of the non-essential amino acids. This means that the body can produce some of it itself. It uses L-glutamate as the basis for this. The rest is obtained through food intake, e.g. by eating meat, milk or honey. As L-proline is primarily found in animal foods, it is particularly important to ensure a sufficient supply when following a vegan or low-protein diet.
But what is the amino acid actually good for? L-proline plays a particularly important role in connection with collagen. 12% L-proline is found in collagen, one of our most important structural proteins. Collagen is found, for example, in connective tissue, skin, tendons and ligaments.
