With methylfolate, better than folic acid, as a practical spray

Methylfolate is a form of folate. As it does not have to be converted from folic acid by the body first, it is absorbed directly by the body without digestion and is therefore particularly valuable.
For some people this is necessary because their body cannot convert folic acid to MHTF.

According to Pharmazeutische Zeitung online (issue 11/2009), this genetic defect affects every second woman, for example. It was discovered as early as 1995 by P. Frosst et al. (Source: A candidate genetic risk factor for vascular disease: a common mutation in methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, Nature Genetics 10, 111 - 113 (1995)). It would therefore make no sense for the people affected to take "normal" folic acid supplements.

However, they are also unable to utilise the folic acid in their food unless it is present as 5-MHTF.
If you have any further questions, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist, even if you want to take such a genetic test. If this is too time-consuming for you, simply take 5-MHTF instead of "normal" folic acid, as this is optimally utilised by everyone, regardless of whether they have a genetic defect or not!
