Information about Enzyme Formula Pro
Enzyme Formula Pro contains a balanced mixture of different types of enzymes, including those that break down carbohydrates, proteins and fats. The product contains an enzyme complex (BioCore® Optimum Complete), which is supplemented by a special gluten-cleaving enzyme with the brand name Tolerase® G. Gluten is a naturally occurring protein in certain cereals such as wheat, rye and barley. Due to its high proline content, gluten can be difficult to break down. Enzyme Formula Pro is suitable for vegetarians and vegans and can be taken with any meal.
What are enzymes?
The term enzyme comes from the Greek "enzymos" and means "in yeast". An enzyme is a protein that can promote a specific chemical reaction without being consumed or changing its structure. It is able to break down certain substances - such as those found in food - into smaller components. The activity of each enzyme reaches its optimum at a certain pH value and a certain temperature.
Which enzymes are involved?
Enzyme Formula Pro contains several enzymes that fulfil different functions. The following table provides an overview.

Enzyme activity
The quantities of enzymes are not usually given in milligrams or grams, but in a specific enzyme activity. It is therefore not about the weight of an enzyme, but about how well and quickly it can break down a certain substance. This is reflected in the enzyme activity. There are international guidelines on how the activity of individual enzymes should be measured and how it should be stated on the label. The unit of measurement varies depending on the enzyme, and the different abbreviations refer to the method used to determine the enzyme activity of the respective enzyme. An example of this is the DU (Dextrinising Unit), which indicates how effectively and quickly this particular amylase breaks down starch into shorter carbohydrate chains (dextrins). The enzyme activity increases with the specified value.
How are the enzymes in Enzyme Formula Pro produced?
There are various types of enzymes on the market. They can be of animal, plant or microorganism origin. Both BioCore® Optimum Complete from Deerland and Tolerase® G from DSM are produced by means of a fermentation process using microorganisms (such as yeasts). These microbes are cultivated on a nutrient medium and ferment the nutrients they contain into enzymes. Microbes have specific preferences for the soil in which they thrive optimally. It is therefore necessary to use some of the wheat and soya as part of the culture medium during the fermentation process in order to produce BioCore® Optimum Complete. The manufacturer Deerland carefully filters the enzymes produced after fermentation to remove wheat and soya residues as much as possible. However, a minimal amount may remain in the final product, which is why this is noted on the label.

E-Mail: kundendienst@vitals.eu.
