Natural chromium plus turmeric in a vegan capsule
The hormone insulin is responsible for regulating our blood sugar levels in the body. Using a lock-and-key principle, it transports absorbed sugar into the cells for energy production. Chromium acts as a kind of door opener into the cell. If there is a lack of chromium, the sugar is not transported into the cell and the blood sugar rises. It also helps to process macronutrients such as carbohydrates and convert them into energy.
Why picolinate?
Picolinate is the name of the organic picolinic acid. If chromium is bound to picolinate, it can be optimally absorbed by the body; chromium picolinate is considered the most active form of chromium absorption.
Increased chromium requirement
Stress or physical exertion in particular lead to a high consumption of chromium. However, many people find it difficult to absorb enough chromium from food. One reason for this is a high blood sugar level. The absorption of chromium is also reduced with increasing age. For this reason, it may be advisable to take chromium picolinate as a dietary supplement, especially in old age.
