Broccoli and pomegranate extract with nasturtium
Sulforaphane is a secondary plant substance that is only found in certain vegetables. Sulforaphane is particularly abundant in broccoli and certain types of cress and has a scientifically proven anti-carcinogenic effect. The effect of sulforaphane on other health problems is similarly fascinating. Sulforaphane is not only used in therapy, but is also recommended as a preventative measure to stay fit and strengthen the immune system's defences.
Like broccoli, nasturtium contains so-called mustard oils. The effectiveness of nasturtium (Tropaeolum) is based on various mechanisms of action: firstly, a direct antibacterial, antiviral and fungistatic effect through glucosinolates, which release isothiocyanates (mustard oils). The mustard oils are already completely absorbed in the small intestine, so that neither the development of resistance nor damage to the body's own intestinal flora has been observed to date. On the other hand, bacterial toxins are inhibited in their synthesis or inactivated, and the human organism's immune defence is generally strengthened by the non-specific stimulating effect.
Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli are associated with antioxidant and cell-protecting properties. EnergyBalance Broccoli 14 Longlife contains a standardised concentration of sulforaphane glucosinolate extract from broccoli seeds. Sulforaphane glucosinolate is metabolised by the body into sulforaphane (isothiocyanate), which is a highly active antioxidant. Extensive studies have shown that sulforaphane enhances the activity of phase 2 detoxifying enzymes and is a protector of DNA.
