Activated vitamin B6 (P5P): physiological effect

Vitamin B6 plays an important role in our body's energy production from carbohydrates (sugar), proteins and fats (energy metabolism). However, it can also build up proteins and fats, which are essential for our body to function.

Pyridoxine is involved in the formation of fatty acids that form the protective layer for our nerve cells (myelin sheath), which could be the reason for the successful treatment of neuropathy (numbness, paresthesia) and carpal tunnel syndrome. It also promotes the production of the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline, which are responsible for our metabolism and our state of mind.

Together with vitamin B12 and folic acid, vitamin B6 promotes the absorption of iron and haematopoiesis. As a result, all tissues and cells are better supplied with oxygen.

Activated vitamin B6 is necessary for the production of special proteins such as hormones and antibodies for our immune system. It counteracts menstrual problems (painful periods, irritability, tension in the breasts) and significantly increases the production of T lymphocytes and T helper cells.
