The role of antioxidants
Antioxidants have the task of eliminating free radicals and thus protecting the body. Free radicals are molecules whose chemical structure is missing an electron. In their search for this electron, they particularly like to attack cell walls. The cell can easily withstand a few such attacks. However, if it is constantly attacked by free radicals, this results in significant membrane damage. A cell with a damaged cell wall can no longer fulfil its functions properly. The more cells function incorrectly or even die, the more likely it is that they will age and weaken noticeably.
