*Melatonin helps to shorten the time it takes to fall asleep. The positive effect occurs when 1mg of melatonin is taken shortly before going to bed. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal mental function. The amino acid 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is a precursor of serotonin and a natural component of the African black bean.
The importance of serotonin
Serotonin is produced by the body itself from the amino acid tryptophan via the intermediate step 5-HTP. The "happiness hormone" is one of the most important neurotransmitters. It regulates the transmission of signals in important areas of the brain and influences our mood, our sleep and our appetite.
As our food contains virtually no serotonin, deficits can only be compensated for by supplying the building blocks. 5-HTP has been shown to be much more effective than tryptophan.
The majority of 5-HTP is metabolised to serotonin by so-called enterochromaffin cells in the intestine. The serotonin produced is released into the bloodstream, but cannot cross the blood-brain barrier. Special nerve cells in the brain therefore ensure that 5-HTP is converted into serotonin.

Avoid use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Do not use in combination with drugs that affect brain metabolism, such as antidepressants and tranquillisers. Not suitable for children under 3 years of age.

5-HTP is a very effective substance. Taking large quantities can quickly lead to nausea. Therefore, as a "newcomer", it is essential to start with small quantities. 100 mg at once is only recommended for people who are familiar with the substance and know that they can tolerate this amount. For "beginners" we recommend the lower dose of 5-HTP from Natur Vital. Or simply start with one capsule instead of 2 capsules.
